2025 Europe Travel Series: Part 1 of 8
Wedding Magic, Waterfalls & The First Taste of Icelandic Adventure
The second my feet hit Iceland, I felt it. This was the start of a new beginning.
I love that feeling of landing in a place I’ve never been before… the excitement, the mystery, the mountains greeting you from the distance, the ocean right there as if it’s saying, “welcome.”
We spent our first days exploring Reykjavík, walking everywhere, taking in the colors of the city, the fresh Icelandic air, the chilly breeze, and the architecture. I was excited for my friends, Tatiana and Jeremy’s wedding, excited for the adventure, excited for LIFE. I was soaking in every single moment of the moment.
Iceland was beyond anything I ever expected. It wasn’t just the views. It was the feeling. The Viking stories and Icelandic history our tour guide shared… the culture, the energy of the land, my friends’ magical wedding… it was all a vibe. It felt ancient and powerful, like the land itself had a personality. This wasn’t just a trip. Iceland was an experience that hit my soul. And I was so happy for my friends, so happy that they chose such a magical place, an adventure to begin a new chapter together.
And I knew, it was a new chapter for me too.
Reykjavík — June 15–16

The Golden Circle: Earth Showing Off
June 17
The wedding guest tour began.
Þingvellir National Park, where the tectonic plates meet and pull apart. Standing between two continents is a whole different kind of energy. Proof that even when life splits open, beauty rises from the shift.

Gullfoss, a waterfall so powerful it felt like the earth was roaring. Mist everywhere. Pure magic.

But my favorite?
The Geysir.
I had no idea what to expect… and then suddenly:
BOOM!
Boiling hot water launched out of the ground like a freaking water volcano. Jaw dropped… AMAZING! One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
We ended the day with the welcome dinner at a tomato greenhouse called Vínstofa Friðheimar, so unique and delicious.

Then we arrived at Hotel Grimsborgir with mountain views, peaceful surroundings, and perfection before the wedding day.
The Most Magical Wedding Ever
June 18 – Wedding Day.
A private waterfall.
Isolated nature.
No tourists. Just us.
A scene straight out of a fairytale.
Light rain came down. A little cold and maybe not ideal for an outdoor wedding, but honestly, it made everything feel even more wild and unforgettable.
Seagulls flew around the waterfall like part of the ceremony. Everything was green, powerful, alive.

After the ceremony, the bride and groom left elsewhere for more photos… and we went on another tour chasing waterfalls.
Seljalandsfoss. The waterfall you can walk behind.

Cold water soaking us from head to toe.
Laughing uncontrollably.
Feeling tiny and magical and unstoppable all at once.
Then, a short walking distance away was Gljúfrabúi, a waterfall hidden behind a narrow canyon opening. You step through the rocks… and your feet might get wet either way… but suddenly you’re inside a moss-covered chamber where the falls drop right above you. It feels like a magical secret the Earth only reveals to those willing to go in a little deeper.

We finished the post-wedding tour at a black sand beach, Landeyjahafnarvegur. Otherworldly. You can see Vestmannaeyjar (Westman Islands) from the beach.

Then back to the hotel for the reception, dancing, joy, love everywhere.
Most breathtaking moment:
The wedding itself. Magical and unforgettable.
Hot Springs & Cold Plunges
June 19
Hvammsvík Hot Springs sits right on Hvalfjörður (Whale Fjord)… warm geothermal water meeting icy ocean, surrounded by mountains.
Warm water, mountain views, ocean breeze. Pure bliss.
We paddleboarded. We laughed. And yes, we jumped into the icy ocean.

On the way back to Reykjavík, we stopped briefly at a Game of Thrones filming location… the one where a shepherd witnesses Drogon the dragon swoop down and grab a goat. Super random. Super fun. Very exciting, especially being a fan of the series. And just beyond, another stunning waterfall in the distance.

Getting Ready for a Solo Chapter to Begin
June 20
Iceland moved me.
It wasn’t just the views.
It was the feeling.
The stories, the energy, the wildness of the land…
the wedding…
it all woke something inside me, something I knew had fallen asleep.
This wasn’t just a trip.
It was a beginning.
A shift I needed…
and one I could feel in every part of me.

Soon, I would be flying into the unknown… where fear would become my teacher and courage would become my home once again. And my heartbeat was ready to change.
