The Missing Piece of Manifestation

Six years ago, I wrote on a Facebook post that we are the co-creators of our own lives.

I still believe that.

In fact, as I write this, I am living many of the things I once dreamed about. I’m traveling across the country with my best friend, exploring places I had only seen in photographs, standing on top of mountains like Angel’s Landing, and creating memories I only dreamed about.

This trip is a dream come true.

One thing I’ve learned about manifestation is that our dreams don’t always arrive the way we imagined. Sometimes they arrive through opportunities, unexpected circumstances, and the people who become part of the journey.

This trip has made me reflect on something I wrote years ago about manifestation.

Back then, I believed manifestation was about our beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and actions. I believed that what we consistently focus on eventually shapes the life we experience.

I still believe that.

But life has taught me something I didn’t fully understand back then.

Healing is part of manifestation.

Because no matter how many affirmations we repeat or vision boards we create, unresolved pain has a way of influencing what we focus on, what we expect, and how we move through the world. If we don’t heal, we often find ourselves repeating the same patterns, experiencing the same lessons, and wondering why nothing seems to change.

When Life Gives Us Warning Signs

A few weeks ago, I experienced something I hadn’t experienced in years: an anxiety attack.

Looking back now, I don’t believe it came out of nowhere.

I was carrying more than I realized.

For the week leading up to this trip, I had been pushing myself to get everything done. I was working nonstop. What had been a season of waking up slowly, practicing yoga, meditating, feeling loved, and taking care of myself had suddenly become one of rushing, stressing, and constantly trying to get one more thing done.

Instead of slowing down, I pushed harder.

Instead of listening to myself, I ignored the warning signs.

Without realizing it, I had abandoned myself again. I had started smoking again, and I was smoking more than I had in a long time. I was also worried about my car and completely exhausted. And I was carrying emotional weight from a relationship that I knew was temporary, but that didn’t make it any less painful to let go of.

I was grieving, stressed, and overwhelmed.

And somewhere along the way, I stopped taking care of the person making the journey.

Where We Place Our Attention Matters

Then came the anxiety attack.

In that moment, my mind was racing through worst-case scenarios. What if the car broke down in the middle of nowhere? What if I was alone in the dark with no reception? What if my car broke down and I couldn’t afford to fix it?

My body responded as if those fears were already happening. I had to pause, take care of myself, take deep breaths, and allow the feeling to pass.

The experience taught me something important.

Where we place our attention matters.

Not because difficult things never happen. Not because we can control every outcome.

But because what we consistently feed with our attention grows stronger.

Fear grows when we feed fear.

Resentment grows when we feed resentment.

Hope grows when we feed hope.

Peace grows when we feed peace.

Healing Isn’t Avoiding Pain

That doesn’t mean we ignore our feelings. In fact, I believe healing requires the opposite.

We have to be willing to feel what we’re feeling.

Anger.

Sadness.

Disappointment.

Grief.

Heartbreak.

Fear.

Not so we can live there forever, but so we can move through it and then finally let it go.

For years, one of the biggest lessons of my healing journey has been learning to release resentment, anger, and pain.

Not because what happened was okay.

And not because people didn’t hurt me.

But because carrying those emotions was hurting me more than anyone else.

I realized that if I wanted to create a life filled with freedom, adventure, love, peace, and possibility, I couldn’t keep giving all of my energy to the things that wounded me.

I had to make room for something new.

That, to me, is healing.

Healing isn’t pretending the past didn’t happen.

It is not bypassing difficult emotions.

Healing is allowing yourself to feel what needs to be felt instead of numbing it, learning what needs to be learned, and then choosing not to carry that pain into every future experience.

It’s choosing not to let old wounds write the next chapter of your life.

Because when we don’t heal, we can unknowingly keep creating from the very wounds we’re trying to escape. We may say we want something different while our fears, beliefs, and choices continue pulling us toward what feels familiar.

Manifestation Is Alignment

Today, when I think about manifestation, I think about alignment.

Are my thoughts, emotions, actions, and beliefs aligned with what I want?

Because if I want peace but spend all day feeding resentment, I am aligned with resentment.

If I want freedom but allow fear to make my decisions, I am aligned with fear.

If I want love but keep abandoning myself, I am aligned with abandonment.

We don’t manifest only through what we say we want. We also create through the patterns we continue to participate in.

Healing helps create alignment.

And alignment helps create the life we want to experience.

The Life I Once Journaled About

As I write this, I am standing in the begining of an adventure I once dreamed about.

Traveling across the country and back for two months.

Exploring places I had only seen in photographs.

Creating memories that will stay with me forever.

For many years now, I have been writing about manifestation, freedom, adventure, growth, and love.

The life I once journaled about is no longer a dream sitting on a piece of paper.

I have been living it intentionally.

It has not been perfect. I have not been fearless. My heart has broken a few times. I am still learning.

But I kept choosing where to place my energy. My willingness to choose life over fear grows stronger every year.

And maybe that’s the real lesson.

Manifestation isn’t just about creating the life you want.

It’s about becoming the person who is ready to live it.

This belief is one of the reasons I created The Magic Within Manifestation Journal and the Magia Blanca Journal to help people become intentional about their thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and actions while using practices like movement and meditation to stay aligned—because the small things we focus on and practice every day have a way of shaping our future.

The magic has always been within us. Life gives us the experiences that help us become clear about what we truly want, and healing brings us closer to the alignment we need to create the life we truly desire.
